Fret-less fader breaks new ground for the turntableist. What about sound designers?

by Acoostix on May.18, 2009, under Uncategorized

This thing is really, really cool. Althought this video is the first public display of the prototype, it seems as thought the instument basically allows real time pitch shifting/correcting of whatever happens to be getting scratched. This is interesting to me as a sound designer, as it will be an interesting new tool to use for bedding sounds in wierd ways - in a tactile way. You can do anything with pro-tools and a good set of plugins, but to be able to augment sound with a tactile interface, and realtime response opens doors to new types of creativity.  - dp.
